Monterey Nutra, a vertically integrated supplier of U.S.-grown functional mushroom ingredients, is doubling its manufacturing footprint and production capacity in California.

The investment significantly expands Monterey Nutra’s ability to supply its growing portfolio of MycoPure Dual Extract Powders, Full Spectrum Powders, and proprietary branded ingredients, including ManeFocus, while providing customers with greater formulation expertise and commercialization support across dietary supplements, functional foods, beverages, sports nutrition and pet products.

“The functional mushroom category is entering a new phase of growth,” said Amir Karian, vice president of nutraceuticals at Monterey Nutra. “Customers are looking for partners who can deliver reliable domestic supply at scale while also helping them develop differentiated products. This expansion reflects our commitment to investing across the entire value chain — from cultivation and production to technical expertise and commercial support.”

The facility expansion doubles Monterey Nutra’s square footage and production output, expanding capacity across every stage of its vertically integrated operation, from genetics and cultivation through finished ingredient production. Built on more than 55 years of mushroom cultivation expertise, this new phase enables the company to meet increasing demand without compromising quality, documentation, traceability or lead times.

“There is a persistent misconception that a U.S. grower cannot keep up with overseas capacity,” said Karian. “ We’ve consistently met our customers’ demand, and this expansion ensures we can continue to do so as the market grows. Our partners should never have to choose between the quality and traceability of U.S.-grown ingredients and the scale their business requires. We made this investment so they don’t have to.”

Commercial Leadership Appointments

The company is also adding two experienced commercial leaders to support its expanding customer base. Monterey Nutra appointed Michal Sochor as director of sales, food and beverage, and Bobby Chadha as director of sales for supplements, sports nutrition, and pet. Together, they strengthen the company’s ability to help customers formulate, commercialize, and scale innovative mushroom-powered products across multiple high-growth wellness categories.

Sochor brings more than a decade of experience helping brands develop functional food and beverage products using specialty ingredients. He will lead Monterey Nutra’s food and beverage business, working with manufacturers and innovation teams to expand mushroom applications across beverages, bars, powders, snacks and emerging wellness formats.

Chadha brings more than 12 years of experience spanning ingredient science, contract manufacturing and retail commercialization. He will focus on helping supplement, sports nutrition and pet brands develop differentiated formulations while building scalable supply chains that support long-term growth.

“Today’s brands need more than quality ingredients — they need strategic partners that can help them innovate and scale,” Karian said. “By expanding both our manufacturing capabilities and our commercial expertise, we’re making it easier for customers to bring science-backed mushroom products to market with confidence.”
